Compared to most Europeans, the Swiss are scrupulously law-abiding,
rendering even the minimal police presence superfluous. Regarding health
problems , the E111 is valid in Liechtenstein but not in Switzerland, so
you must have private insurance. Virtually every hospital ( Spital ,
hôpital , ospedale ) has some kind of 24-hour service, although you will
have to pay hefty medical bills upfront and claim expenses back later;
make sure you keep full receipts and doctors' reports. Every district
has a rota system whereby one local pharmacy ( Apotheke , pharmacie ,
farmacia ) stays open outside normal shopping hours. Each pharmacy will
have a sign in the window telling you where the nearest open one is.
Local newspapers also have details.
